KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has condemned the launch of a long-range rocket by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Sunday.
“Malaysia deeply regrets that DPRK has continued with its missile programme. These are flagrant violations of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions,” the Malaysian Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) said in a statement here.
In the interest of international peace and security, Malaysia urged the DPRK to immediately halt such programmes and comply fully with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, it added.
International media reported North Korea claimed the rocket carried a satellite.
The rocket was reported to have been launched from the Dongchang-ri rocket launching site in the northwest of the county at 9.30am local time.
