PUTRAJAYA – Malaysia has condemned the launch of a ballistic missile on July 4 by North Korea and strongly urged the country to fulfill all its international obligations in the interest of international peace and security.
Wisma Putra in a statement today said Malaysia called for the immediate resumption of dialogue and negotiations between North Korea and the relevant parties, with a view to finding a peaceful resolution to the situation in the Korean Peninsula.
“DPRK’s persistent refusal to comply with its international obligations as prescribed under the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, is a cause for great concern in the context of international peace and security,” the statement added.
Wisma Putra said North Korea’s flagrant violation of these resolutions seriously undermined the global nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation regime.
These actions by North Korea could further aggravate the already tense situation in the Korean Peninsula, said the statement. – BERNAMA
