KUALA LUMPUR – The military cooperation and close bilateral relations between Malaysia and China help in the effort to combat militant activities in the region, said Deputy Defence Minister Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri.
He said cooperation with other countries, especially in espionate was crucial to ensure the region is safe from threats of terrorists.
“Malaysia and China are cooperating in espionage and other fields to combat militant activities which has seen a surge recently.
“We extend cooperation with almost every country in regards to the issue of terrorism because it is a global issue,” he told reporters after attending the Malaysian Institute of Defence and Security (MIDAS) Talk 10/2015 here today.
He said diplomatic relations between the two countries since 40 years ago not only impacted positively socially and economically but also on regional security.
On the talk, Abdul Rahim said the lecture series which was held three or four times a year was to discuss the latest developments on defence and security. – BERNAMA
