ALOR SETAR – Malaysian men’s team clinched an easy 5-0 win against Myanmar in the Group C matches of the 2018 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium Suka Menanti, here today.
Lee Zii Jia, who featured as the first singles after Datuk Lee Chong Wei was rested, delivered the first winning point after he disposed Phone Pyae Naing 21-3, 21-10 followed by Soong Joo Vern, who took just 22 minutes to win 21-9, 21-7 over Aung Myo Htoo.
Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin also clinched the third winning points after defeating Chan Win Oo 21-10, 21-10.
National second pair, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi took 20 minutes before claiming the fourth points when they disposed Myanmar’s pair Arkar Phone Myat-Hein Si Thu Toe 21-5, 21-5.
The third doubles pair, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzudin Mohd Rumsani, making their first appearance today, sealed the winning points with a 21-12, 21-9 win over Aung Myo Htoo-Chan Win Oo. – BERNAMA
