KUALA LUMPUR: The “historic handshake” between Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his former deputy Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim proves that their actions are based on their own political interests.
“I pity their respective staunch supporters, who have all these years rallying behind them and attacking the rival leader.
“It is a huge blow and humiliation to their supporters,” MCA Youth Chief Senator Chong Sin Woon (pic) said.
Chong was speaking to reporters at a press conference at Wisma MCA here to announce the Mid Autumn Festival celebration organised by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia students.
He said it showed that there are no permanent friends or enemies in politics.
He added that politicians should stand firm on their principles.
“How can the rakyat trust leadership of this kind from politicians who sacrifice their principles because of their own interests?” he said.
