SEPANG – The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show 2018 (MAHA 2018) will be the country’s biggest platform to recognise the contributions of women in the agricultural sector, says Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

He said in line with this, the tagline ‘Segalanya Wanita’ had been chosen for the 11-day event beginning from Nov 22 at the Malaysian Ago Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS),

He added that 50 per cent of the 1,500 stalls at MAHA 2018 were allocated for women entrepreneurs.

“The 40,000 sq ft area of Hall A at MAEPS will be dedicated especially for women, their sale of products and all dimensions of women’s empowerment and their influence in agricultural production,” he said in his speech at the pre-launch of MAHA 2018 at MAEPS here today.

He said to ensure no one was left out, efforts to empower women entrepreneurs and highlight their roles in the national agro-food industry through MAHA 2018 must be planned in detail.

In a separate press conference, Ahmad Shabery said the ministry aimed to achieve sales of RM500 million and was targeting to attract more than 3.7 million visitors to MAHA 2018.

He said this was a realistic goal after recording sales of about RM400 million at the MAHA Show two years ago. – BERNAMA
