SERDANG – The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) exhibition this year, scheduled to take place from Nov 24 to Dec 4, aims to rake in sales of RM200 million.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said 1,500 sales booths would be opened at MAHA 2016 to lure 3.5 million visitors, with 30 per cent being the young.
“We want to see active involvement of young people in MAHA 2016. That’s why it will also have a lot of elements of fun,” he said at the pre-launch of the MAHA 2016 at the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) here today.
Among others, Ahmad Shabery said the 11-day exhibition would be filled with showcases and activities, including musical festival, ‘Rhythm of Farmers’, traditional cuisines and cooking demonstrations, pet shows, and cultural performances.
In order to ensure involvement of children, he said MAHA 2016 had chosen the famous animated twin ‘Upin and Ipin’ as its mascot.
MAHA 2016 is an ideal platform that will appeal to those involved in agriculture, business owners and investors to showcase the latest in agriculture technology, agro food and agro-based products and services; explore opportunities to trade, invest, collaborate and share in the transfer of technology; expand business horizons; and develop import and export markets. – BERNAMA
