KOTA BHARU – A Kelantan National Padi and Rice Board (LPN) regulatory division senior officer was detained in connection with soliciting and accepting a RM3,500 bribe.
State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Datuk Shamsuddin Mohammad Yusof said the 56-year-old suspect was nabbed at 3.30pm yesterday in a restaurant here.
He said the senior officer was remanded for six days, beginning today.
Also picked up were three enforcement officers from the division, he said, adding the trio were released this afternoon after their statements were recorded.
The four suspects were nabbed on suspicion of requesting and receiving a RM3,500 bribe as inducement to issue passes to move a consignment of rice to Perak from Kelantan, and as an ‘introductory greeting’. – BERNAMA
