HULU SELANGOR – Muhammad Fareeze Hanuddin (pic) said he was lucky to survive a landslide that hit Taman Idaman in Serendah early Saturday morning.
The gym assistant was heading home on his motorcycle from his workplace in Selayang at about 1am when the ground beneath him gave way and swallowed him up.
“I was just passing by the road going to my house. I didn’t hear anything, I didn’t feel or see anything. Suddenly I was just falling,” Muhammad Fareeze, 21, said when met at the temporary shelter at the Sekolah Rendah Agama Serendah.
Muhammad Fareez said his motorcycle fell sideways into the collapsing gorge of mud and found his body trapped in the earth.
He blacked out shortly after.
“Nothing was going through my mind. I didn’t even know what was happening. I just felt my body becoming weak and I couldn’t hear anything,” he said.
Luckily for Muhammad Fareez, his neighbours saw him and quickly pulled him out.
He fractured his left hand in the incident and was treated at the Selayang Hospital. He was discharged four hours later.
Muhammad Fareez lost his motorcycle, wallet and mobile phone in the incident.
His mother, Nur Azian Abdul Mutallib said she heard neighbours shouting that someone was buried in the landslide and had the shock of her life when she realised it was her son.
“My body just became cold. I’m so grateful he is safe. I don’t mind if my house or possessions are damaged, as long as he is okay,” she said. – The Star Online
