MARAN – The Ministry of Tourism and Culture will assist the Pahang government to re-promote a famous picnic spot, the Lubuk Yu Recreational Forest, which was previously closed due to the rat virus disease leptospirosis.
Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsuddin said the tropical rain forest, which is rich with numerous natural treasures, would be re-promoted as the first hammock activity destination in the country.
“I had the opportunity today to experience a hammock in this recreational forest which is rich in its diversity of natural treasures.
“This beauty must be preserved and this hammock programme offers an interesting new experience for domestic and foreign nature lovers.
“I am confident it will be a new attraction for tourists to venture into the recreational forest and Pahang,” she told reporters after opening the 1st 2015 Hammock Camping Gathering at the Lubuk Yu Recreational Forest, Kuala Sentul here, today.
The function was also attended by State Women and Family Development, Communication and Multimedia Committee chairman Datuk Shahaniza Shamsuddin and 2015 1st Hammock Camping Gathering programme director Laili Basir. – BERNAMA
