KUALA LUMPUR – Both bounds of the East Coast Highway (LPT) linking Gombak and Jabor have been closed to light vehicles in view of the worsening flood situation in Temerloh due to the rapid rise of the Sungai Pahang water level.
In a statement, LPT concessionaire Anih Berhad said highway users heading east towards Kuantan would be diverted to the trunk road at the Lanchang toll and would have to enter the highway at the Maran toll, and vice-versa for west-bound users.
It said the move was taken as a precautionary measure in the interest of the safety of highway users.
“Heavy vehicles are, however, allowed to pass but they are to exercise caution at all times,” it said.
The statement said the situation may change due to the uncertain weather.
Highway users are advised to refer to the LPT traffic updates at @lpttrafik before making their journey, it added.
Meanwhile, in JERTEH, Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said poor drainage could be the reason for floods at several stretches of the LPT.
The Besut MP had earlier met the people of Kampung Padang Luas Dalam over breakfast in the village. – Bernama
