ALOR SETAR- Low-lying areas in several districts in Kedah have been hit by flash floods after a downpour.
Among the affected areas are Langkawi, Bandar Baharu Kulim and Kuala Muda.
A spokesman from the state Civil Defence Force said that the downpour started early Friday, resulting in the flash floods.
“In Langkawi, it has been raining since 4am and the affected areas include low-lying villages and roads especially Jalan Bayas, the road heading to Taman Seri Aman and Jalan Chendek Kura.
“Other affected areas are Tanjung Dawai in Merbok, Kuala Muda, two houses in Kampung Paya Suri, and Jalan Semeling,” he added.
He said no evacuation centres were open, adding that the department was monitoring the situation closely. -THE STAR
