JELEBU – A driver of a lorry laden with gas cylinders was killed after the vehicle he was driving fell into a 10-metre deep ravine at Jalan Bukit Tanga here this morning.
In the 10.30 am incident, the victim Mohd Nazri Md Rajab, 32, from Triang, Pahang, died at the scene while lorry attendant Rozainol Nasution, 29, from Felda Lui Timur sustained severe injuries.
Jelebu Fire and Rescue department senior officer, Shahrul Nizam Abdul Rahim said the accident occurred when the truck hit the road barrier while it was going down hill.
“We believe the truck had brake problems as a trail of brake fluid was found along the road,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
Meanwhile, in Rembau, the driver of a three-tonne courier truck driver died on the spot when the truck he was driving hit the back of a trailer at Km 231 North-South Expressway north bound, near the Pedas-Linggi toll, last night Rembau Fire and Rescue department senior officer, Abdul Hakim Awang said rescue team took about 20 minutes to extricate the victim identified as Vizaidi M Sapian, 27, from Temerloh Pahang. – BERNAMA
