PETALING JAYA – Police have arrested the driver of a 10-tonne lorry which rammed into 14 vehicles at Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari, in Shah Alam, on Monday.
Shah Alam police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said the 54-year-old driver, from Batang Berjuntai, returned to scene three hours after the incident.
He said they managed to detain him on the spot and found he had two serious traffic summon offences in 2007 and 2014.
He also said so far 13 victims had lodged police reports.
“The sand-landen lorry has been taken to the Road Transport Department to weigh the amount of sand,” he said, adding it would also be brought to PUSPAKOM for checks on the brake failure.
On Monday, the driver of the lorry lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure at 1.30pm and the lorry then rammed into nine vehicles at the traffic light and three other vehicles from the opposite direction.
Another two vehicles, a trailer and a car, crashed into one another while trying to avoid the lorry. No casualties were reported in the incident. – The Sun
