SEPANG – A lorry driver who initially pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a hand grenade, pistol, 24 bullets, and having links to Daesh did a turnabout when he was about to receive sentence today.
Syed Amir Asyraf Syed Hamdan, 20, who pleaded guilty on Sept 23, claimed trial instead, when the charges were read to him again by the Sessions Court interpreter.
He is accused of committing the offences at a house in Kampung Sungai Merab Luar, Bandar Baru Bangi near here, between Jan 9 and Aug 27, this year.
Judge Harith Sham Mohamed Yasin set Nov 21 for mention.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Fadzlan Mohd Noor while the accused was represented by counsel Azamuddin Abd Aziz. – BERNAMA
