SEREMBAN – The Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) encourages consumers to buy Q’Fish fresh frozen fish supplied by the National Fishermen’s Association (NEKMAT) as an option if market prices of fish soar.
Negeri Sembilan LKIM director Mohamad Hassim Mat Jahaya said the Q’Fish fish could be obtained at the Putrajaya MYFarm outlet daily at a price of RM8.50 per kilogramme and not exceeding RM10 per kilogramme at selected farmers’ market and Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M).
“Eight types of fresh frozen fish under the Q’Fish programme are ‘tilapia’, ‘keli’, ‘kembung’, ‘selar’, ‘pelaling’, ‘aya’, ‘cencaru’ and ‘selayang’.
“The Q’Fish sales will be expanded to the states through direct sales to consumers at selected locations or farmers’ market through the participation of the state and area fishermen associations,” he said in a statement here today.
Mohamad Hassim said, apart from NEKMAT, two other centres being utilised as cold storage are the Kedah Fishermen’s Association and Besut Area Fishermen Association. – BERNAMA
