KUALA KANGSAR: MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has urged Chinese voters in Kuala Kangsar to reject PAS and its splinter group, Amanah, because both parties are “extremeâ€.
He told the Chinese community in Kg Baru Jerlun here on Friday that both parties were out to turn Malaysia into a theocratic country.
“There are no liberal factions in Amanah or PAS. Both have the same DNA. One is extreme and the other is more extreme,” he said.
Amanah’s candidate in the by-election is nuclear physicist Dr Ahmad Termizi Ramli while PAS is represented by its Perak Dewan Muslimat chief, Dr Najihatussalehah Ahmad.
Liow also called on Chinese voters to reject DAP because it had misled them into voting for PAS in the last general election.
He added that a vote for Barisan’s candidate, Datin Mastura Mohd Yazid, would send a strong message to PAS and Amanah that the Chinese community rejected extremist policies like hudud.
Liow is on a one-day visit to Kuala Kangsar to campaign for Barisan.
He was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Lee Sun Loo, Perak MCA chief Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon, and other party leaders.
