CYBERJAYA – LimKokWing University of Creative Technology today launched its LimKokWing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) International programme which offers more than 200 short courses that aim to enhance skills for anyone from school leavers to working people to retirees.
LimKokWing University of Creative Technology founder and president Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing said in a statement that LimKokWing TVET International had been created in support of the TVET Malaysia national initiative to empower as many Malaysians as possible.
“TVET Malaysia is a long-term commitment to upskill, reskill and upscale every employable Malaysian over the next 20 years. Currently, only 28 per cent of Malaysia’s total workforce of 15 million possess the right set of skills,” said Lim, who is also TVET Malaysia advisor and TVET United Kingdom International president.
TVET Malaysia, under the Human Resources Ministry, was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in September 2017 following the rebranding of TVET programmes and institutions. It underlines several initiatives to promote TVET as the main option in education and career selection.
In a media briefing on LimKokWing TVET International at the university here today, LimKokWing university vice-president for corporate relations Datuk Fajura Juffa Mohd Mustafa Kamal said the short courses were for a duration ranging from one day to 30 days.
“LimKokWing TVET International also offers online courses, for example, for housewives to polish their web-design or entrepreneurship skills. Each class has a minimum of 15 students. For working people, classes can be arranged during weekends or at night.
“The university also has RM50 million worth of scholarships to offer. The courses offered are also in line with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and classes will begin next month,” she said.
Among the 200 TVET courses offered under the LimKokWing TVET International programme are packaging and poster design, Internet and social media marketing, e-marketing and advertising for beginners.
Fajura Juffa said further information on LimKokWing TVET International can be obtained at the university’s booth at Ekspo TVET Malaysia which runs from tomorrow to Friday at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. – BERNAMA
