PUTRAJAYA: Four foreign construction workers in an elevator 13 floors above the ground were killed when the platform gave way at a building site in Precint 15 here yesterday.
The dead were three Indonesians and a Bangladeshi aged between 20 and 40.
Putrajaya police chief ACP Abdul Razak Abdul Majid said that the victims were heading up with building materials on the elevator platform at the high rise apartment construction site at about 10.30am when the mishap occurred.
He said a mechanical failure of the elevator occurred at the 13th floor causing it to plunge to the ground.
He said the Indonesians were killed on the spot while the Bangladeshi succumbed to serious injuries about five hours after the accident.
Abdul Razak said police will notify the respective embassies about the victims. – The Sun
