KUALA LUMPUR: Les Copaque, Malaysia’s premier animation studio, has bagged the “Most Loveable Cartoon Character” and “Most Loveable Cartoon” awards at the Mum and Kids Awards 2015 in Jakarta for its renowned Upin & Ipin animation series, beating other nominees with the highest number of SMS votes.
Congratulating Les Copaque on the award, Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) Director of Creative Multimedia, Hasnul Hadi said the corporation hoped the recognition received by the studio would inspire more local animation studios to dream big and make Malaysia proud.
Meanwhile, Les Copaque Managing Director Burhanuddin Md Radzi said the studio was humbled by the achievement and would continue to strive for excellence in what it does.
“Our mission is to give our best in creating world-class animations and we want to call on others in the industry to join us in taking our local animation standards to a higher level,” he said.
An MSC-status company, Les Copaque was established in 2005 to spearhead Malaysia’s animation industry and provide opportunities for local graduates to showcase their talents.
The award-winning studio first introduced the Upin & Ipin series in 2007 which led to the culmination of multiple awards followed by an international debut on Disney Channel Asia in 2009.
