ALOR SETAR — National men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia said that he was more confident to continue the competition at the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) 2018 held at the Stadium Sultan Abdul Halim Suka Menanti.
The shuttler, who was born in Jalan Langgar near here, admitted that he had succeeded to overcome the trauma of the SEA Games and had managed to handle the pressure when he played in front of the home supporters today.
In fact, the maturity had also produced results when the 19-year-old player contributed the country’s second point, after the Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong pair failed to do so when playing against Thailand, yesterday where Malaysia lost 2-3.
The success was maintained today when Malaysia played against Myanmar and he was fielded as the first singles in place of Datuk Lee Chong Wei who was rested.
Zii Jia had an easy passage over Phone Pyae Naing when the Malaysian won 21-3, 21-10. — BERNAMA
