PETALING JAYA – Good news for Malay comedy enthusiasts down south – some of the nation’s best will be making a trip to Singapore to perform at this weekend’s Lawak Ke Der 2015.
Local greats Harith Iskander, Afdlin Shauki and Douglas Lim will be sharing the stage with comedic group Kumpulan Bocey at the event hosted by Sherry Alhadad.
The decision to bring the show out of Malaysia this year was due to the very positive response from Singapore fans who had driven up to Kuala Lumpur to catch the shows.
Many calls were also received from Singapore social media users who have requested that the show be performed in their home turf.
“Every time after a show, we bump into people who have driven up from Singapore to see the show. So, this time we are taking Lawak Ke Der to Singapore to the Kallang theatre,†said Harith of his first Malay comedy show in Singapore.
“For a good 90 minutes or maybe even two hours, you will get the best of what comedy in Bahasa Malaysia has got to offer.
“Afdlin has been doing this for 15-20 years, I’ve been doing this for 25 years. Douglas Lim is hilarious in Bahasa and Bocey is probably one of the best comedy sketch groups around.
“And we are all hosted by Sherry Alhadad, who is one of the best female comics around so it’s just a great night of stand up comedy in Bahasa Malaysia,” he said.
The exclusive shows will be performed at 8pm on Aug 14 and 15 at the Kallang Theatre.
Tickets are priced at $46, $66, $96, $126 and $156 for VIP seats. They are available at www.sistic.com.sg or call +65 6348 5555 for inquiries. – The Star
