Larut Raft Festival Enters Malaysia Book Of Records

SELAMA – The participation of 1,200 people on 256 rafts in the Larut Raft Festival 2017 in Kampung Teluk Mas, Sungai Bayur near here today, set a new record in the Malaysia Book Of Records (MBR) as a raft competition with the most participation.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, who is also Larut MP said the one-day festival, which had entered its fifth year, was aimed at introducing Selama to the tourists as well as to preserve the tradition of rafting.

The four-km race on Sungai Siputih from Kampung Teluk Mas to Sungai Bayor town attracted more than 10,000 visitors.

The festival was jointly organised by the Larut Parliamentary Service Centre, Perbadanan Nasional Bhd, Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia and JL 99 Group. – BERNAMA
