Labinot Gives More Bite To Melaka United Attack

in Latest/Sports

MELAKA – The presence of attacking midfielder Labinot Harbuzi or fondly called
‘Labi’ in the past few matches after being sidelined earlier in the season had
succeeded in bolstering the attack of Melaka United (MU), said MU manager
Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi.

He said the rapport of the Swedish player with another midfield import,
Balsa Bozovic of Montenegro had succeeded in boosting MU midfield by creating
many opportunities for goals.

“With the entry of Labi, I saw a change in the forwards with more attacks by
MU which was rather tepid earlier.

“Another striker, Ilija Spasojevic of Montenegro was also seen more
effective with four goals in two matches as the midfield machinery was seen
providing more effective support,” he told reporters here last night.

He was met after a Premier League match in which MU beat Kuantan FA 3-2,
with two goals from Spasojevic and another one from young local striker,
Nurshamil Abd Ghani.

In another Premier League match on Tuesday (April 5) against UiTM FC, MU won
3-1 with Spasojevic netting two goals while the other was contributed by
Harbuzi.

Commenting on Nurshamil, Mohd Yusoff said the 21-year-old striker proved MU
had a local striker capable of giving support to imported forwards.

“In the match tonight, Shamil only had one chance in the final minutes of
the game and he successfully converted the chance and we can rely on him if our
imported strikers are unable to play,” he said.

Nurshamil, a Melaka boy from Kampung Paya Rumput, Cheng, here played an
important role in MU’s victory in last season’s FAM League when he emerged as
the top scorer with 15 goals.

MEANWHILE in MARAN, Felda United coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim declined to
crow over their 3-1 win against Selangor at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium (STAR)
Jengka here last night and returned to top the Super League table.

He said the overall performance of his charges against the Red Giants was
good and they collected three precious points.

“Tonight is not a game I can rave about but Felda United players had put a
credible performance.

“We were given a tough fight and Selangor were relentless until the end of
the game.

“Whatever it is, I congratulate my players for the triumph,” he said when
met by reporters after the match.

Irfan said he hoped the winning momentum from last night’s win would
continue to the next game to keep Felda United atop of the league.

“We focus on our matches one at a time and now we are concentrating on the
next match.

“I hope when playing at home, the squad would continue to collect three
points,” he said.

Selangor assistant coach, K. Gunalan blamed the Red Giants’ loss to errors
made by the players.

“In the match, we were one goal down but we bounced back to equalise 1-1.

“Felda United, however, managed to put in two more goals as we made some
grave errors.

He said on the overall, the players played seriously to take as many shots
at goal but were unfortunate to lose. – BERNAMA
