KUALA LUMPUR – The statement by tycoon and entrepreneur Robert Kuok that he appreciates every opportunity given to him is in line with the statement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak that government aid was the ‘key’ to his success.
Press secretary to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad said Najib in his statement last week said although (Kuok) was hardworking, disciplined and driven, government assistance was still the “key” to opening opportunities which would lead to his success.
“The Prime Minister has said that government policies were the keys which open up opportunities in education, business and jobs which would enable an individual to attain success.
“He gave the example of Robert Kuok’s success as the wealthiest individual in Malaysia, a person who is hardworking, disciplined and driven, who became successful after he got the opportunity to monopolise the rice and sugar industry from the government at one time,” he said in a statement issued today.
Tengku Sariffuddin said the Prime Minister also welcomed the statement by Robert Kuok that he appreciated every opportunity given to him and acknowledged the contributions made by Malaysians in national development.
He said Kuok also said he appreciated Malaysian leaders who had, all their lives, done whatever they could to contribute to the well-being of the people in the country.
“Robert Kuok’s success as an entrepreneur is a Malaysian success story and it is an inspiration to all entrepreneurs to succeed,” he said.
Yesterday, Kuok denied all allegations made against him in a news portal and said the allegation that he had forgotten his roots was untrue.
In a statement issued by his office, Kuok expressed his deepest appreciation for the opportunities given to him and acknowledged the contributions of Malaysians from all races and religions towards Malaysia’s development. – BERNAMA
