KUALA LUMPUR: Sales revenue from each Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M) store nationwide is about RM1.71mil annually, proving that it is popular with Malaysians.
Domestic Trade, Consumerism and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said this was based on the finding that each store made an average sales profit of RM4,711 daily.
“The actual amount depends on location and size of the stores, but we still expect sales to continue increasing along with new branches of KR1M.
“KR1M has given consumers an option to buy their essentials for up to 50% cheaper, and with the consumers’ support, KR1M’s sales revenue will continue to increase,” he said in response to Tan Sri Mohd Ali Rustam in Dewan Negara Thursday.
There are a total of 163 KR1M stores operating nationwide, and there are plans to add another 23 by year-end.
Hasan also said the Government targeted at least one KR1M in every parliamentary constituency under the 11th Malaysia Plan.
