KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) targets one million domestic and foreign visitors this year compared to 850,000 last year.

Its chief executive officer, Meor Shahril Anuar Ahmad Rathuan, said KL Tower was offering a variety of interesting activities this year, including the setting up of a mini zoo which was expected to attract many school students.

“Apart from the mini zoo which can be visited starting next month, we plan to create a new environment by having LED lights at the tower to draw more visitors,” he said during a working visit to the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), here, today.

Earlier, Bernama general manager, Datuk Zulkefli Salleh, gave a briefing to the KL Tower delegation on the news agency’s organisational structure and operations.

Meor Shahril Anuar, who was appointed to the CEO post in July, said KL Tower would like to establish cooperation with Bernama, particularly in providing news to promote it as an iconic destination in Malaysia.

Standing 421 metres high, KL Tower was officially opened on Oct 1, 1996. Located in the city centre, it is the world’s seventh highest telecomunications tower and the tallest in Southeast Asia.

Besides organising various cultural and sports events throughout year, KL Tower is also unique because it is located at the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, which is one of the oldest forest reserves in Malaysia. – BERNAMA
