KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia continue to trend higher at mid-morning today with gains seen in selected blue chip counters, dealers said.
At 11.02 am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,806.18, up 5.23 points after opening 3.99 points higher at 1,804.94.
Topping the gainers list was British American Tobacco which perked 84 sen to RM70,followed by Petronas Gas, up 48 sen to RM22.60 and Petronas Dagangan which gained 40 sen to RM18.12.
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index was 29.37 points firmer at 12,457.71, the FBM Emas Syariah Index bagged 26.761 points to 12,956.32, while the FBMT100 Index increased 24.61 points to 12,132.21.
The FBM Ace improved 19.09 points to 6,432.14, but the FBM 70 eased 13.2 points to 13,490.08.
On a sectoral basis, the Finance Index rose 32.52 points to 15,954.97, the Industrial Index added 3.77 points to 3,289.76, and the Plantation Index gained six points to 8,170.92.
Gainers outpaced losers 345 to 230, while 286 counters were unchanged, with 910 untraded and 12 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 856.11 million shares worth RM706.77 million.
Among actives, Perisai Petroleum perked four sen to 71 sen, Wintoni and KNM increased one sen each to 11 sen and 73 sen TH Heavy Engineering earned half a sen to 44 sen,while Connectcounty gained 1.5 sen to 18 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank slipped one sen to RM9.18, TNB eased two sen to RM13.92 and Sime Darby lost eight sen to RM9.50.
Public Bank added two sen to RM18.56 and Axiata gained four sen to RM7.09. â€“ BERNAMA
