Kindergarten Teacher Charged With Causing Hurt To Pupil

KAJANG – A teenage kindergarten teacher was charged in the magistrate’s court here today, with causing injury to a pupil last month.

R. Nishalini, 18, claimed trial to the charge which was read before Magistrate Nor Afidah Idris.

She faced a charge of using criminal force with intent to cause injury to the ears and cheeks of Looi Qee Shine, four, at a kindergarten in Taman Damai Indah here at 4.30pm on Oct 31.

The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries up to one year’s jail or fine up to RM2,000, or both upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Megat Mahathir Megat Tharih Afendi offered RM5,000 bail in one surety.

Nishalini, who was unrepresented appealed for a reduced bail on the grounds that she was currently unemployed.

Nor Afidah set bail at RM3,000 in one surety and fixed Jan 9 for mention of the case, pending outcome of the medical report, counsel appointment and submission of documents.

Media reports said the alleged victim was slapped by his teacher for refusing to write, and when brought for an initial check-up at the Kajang Hospital, was found to suffer injuries to the cheeks and ears. – BERNAMA
