KUALA LUMPUR – Former All England men’s doubles champions Koo Kien Kiat/Tan Boon Heong cruised into the final of the 2015 Dutch Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton Tournament at the Topsportcentrum Almere Arena in the Netherlands today.
According to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) website www.bwfbadminton.org, the seventh seeded pair secured the spot after defeating Taiwan pair Lee Jhe-Huei/Yang Lee 21-19, 19-21, 21-16 in the semifinals early today.
The 2006 Asian Games gold medalist, 2007 All England champion and 2010 World Championship runner-up pair managed to overcome the Taiwanese pair in 54 minutes and will face second seeded Manu Attri/B. Sumeeth Reddy of India in the final scheduled later tonight.
The Indian pair defeated England’s Andrew Ellis/Peter Mills 22-20, 19-21, 21-14 in another semifinal today. – BERNAMA
