Malaysia Can Challenge Thailand For SEA Games Gold – Khalid

in Latest/Sports

KUALA LUMPUR – Former International Khalid Ali believes National Project squad coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee’s Under-22 squad can give defending champion Thailand a run for the money and possibly wrest the gold medal at the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games next month.

Khalid who was part of the National team that qualified for the 1980 Moscow Olympics said his confidence brewed from the fact that Kim Swee has been preparing the team well since taking over from former head coach Frank Bernhardt from Germany, in April.

“I have seen how Kim Swee has been preparing the squad and I feel the players have the ability to mount a serious challenge for the gold in the SEA Games although we cannot deny that Thailand will be the team to beat among ASEAN countries,” he said here yesterday.
