KUALA LUMPUR – Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin’s inclusion in the SEA Games polo team should be looked at from a positive angle and not turn it into a political issue.
Gerakan Akar Umbi UMNO Malaysia (GAUM) chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said Khairy’s participation in the SEA Games should be seen as an inspiration to others, especially youth and as an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle.
“We must not regard Khairy’s participation as an effort to seek cheap publicity. Khairy is already popular among youth and has the support of young people in the country since becoming the UMNO Youth chief in 2009,” he said in a statement today.
Zulkarnain said the main objective of the SEA Games or any other big games throughout the world is to inspire the best sportsmen to compete in the spirit of sportsmanship and similarly, Khairy’s participation must be welcomed and given undivided support. – BERNAMA
