Khairuddin Remanded Six Days

KUALA LUMPUR – Former Batu Kawan UMNO division vice head  Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan has been remanded for six days beginning today.

Federal Police (Bukit Aman) CID director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said Khairuddin was arrested yesterday under Section 124C of the Penal Code for allegedly committing offences that could affect parliamentary democracy.

“He (Khairuddin) is under remand from today until Thursday (Sept 24) under Section 124C of the Penal Code … I cannot reveal more information as investigations are still in progress,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

The media today had reported that Khairuddin was arrested at his home in Mont Kiara at about 7.30 pm yesterday.

His arrest is believed to be linked to investigations regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad, a strategic investment fund which has been a subject of controversy. – BERNAMA
