KOTA BAHARU: Residents in Kelantan will get to enjoy Unifi high-speed broadband Internet service in August this year, at the earliest, Telekom Malaysia (TM) general manager for Kelantan, Ab Rashid Che Othman said.
He said for a start, the service would be available in the Kota Baharu district, namely, the town area, Kubang Kerian and Pengkalan Chepa with the installation of three telephone exchanges in the affected areas.
With the installation of the exchanges, TM expects to get 5,000 people to register for the service by March next year, he told reporters after a breaking of fast programme hosted by TM for its clients here yesterday.
Abd Rashid said TM would not provide Streamyx service in areas covered by the Unifi service.
“But in places with Streamyx and if there are requests for Unifi service, they can have both,” he added.
UniFi is a broadband service by TM that uses fibre optics to deliver high-speed internet, phone connectivity and IPTV to customers.– BERNAMA
