KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government has declared March 22 a public holiday to enable the people to cast their votes in Chempaka by-election.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the move will enable voters to come out in full force as polling day had been set on Sunday, which is a working day in Kelantan.
“The state government is sympathetic with voters who will face difficulties to vote as Sunday is a working day.
“With the announcement, I hope voters will come out to fulfill their responsibility as a citizen,” he said in a statement issued today.
Ahmad also hoped the polling procees would goes smoothly without any untoward incident.-NST
