KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan Barisan Nasional (BN) needs at least 300,000 votes to be returned to power in the state in the coming general election, said its chairman, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
He said there were about one million people who were eligible to vote in the 14th general election (GE14) , where 200,000 of them were BN members.
“For BN to win, we have to approach the fence-sitters, non-governmental organisations, as well as the PAS members and supporters.
“The BN machinery has to approach them because they are beginning to show a more positive attitude towards BN and I can feel that the wind of change is blowing strongly in Kelantan,” he said.
Mustapa, who is also Kelantan UMNO Liaison chief, told reporters this after a leader with the people session which was attended by about 1,000 people in the Kota Bharu parliamentary constituency at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Kota here today.
Also present was Kota Bharu UMNO leader Tan Sri Muhammad Fatmi Che Salleh di Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Seri Kota di sini, hari ini.
Mustapa, who is International Trade and Industry Minister, said the Kelantan BN manifesto for GE14 was in the final stage of formulation and would be tabled at the BN central committee soon.
He said the manifesto focus on, among others, employment, recreational facilities for youths, tourism, investment and affordable housing. – BERNAMA
