KUALA LUMPURm- Premier League champions Kedah chalked up their first Malaysia Cup 2015 win in style with a 5-0 whitewash of Terengganu in a group A match at Darul Aman Stadium in Alor Setar last night.
The victory saw Kedah topping group A with four points from a win and a draw.
Brazilian import striker, Sandro Da Silva was the toast of the Kedah squad when he blasted a hattrick, starting in the 51st minute followed by a penalty kick in the 66th minute and a field goal in the 81st minute.
Local talents Muhd Farhan Roslan and Mohd Alif Fadzil completed the rout in the 71st minute and 86th minute respectively.
Earlier, Terengganu had to play with nine men after referee Muhd Nazmi Nasaruddin red carded two of their players for dangerous play.
Muhd Hafizal Mohamad was given the red card in the 24th minute after bringing down Muhd Farhan before Terengganu striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha was ordered out of the pitch in the 75th minute for a foul on Osman Md Yusuf.
At Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu, Kelantan failed to collect full points on homeground when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Felda United in a group C match.
Gilmar da Silva opened the score for the Red Warriors in the 48th minute before Ahmad Syamim Yahya equalised for the visitors in the 63rd minute.
Tomorrow, six more Malaysia Cup matches will be held with two matches each in group B and D and one match each in group A and C.
