MELAKA — The Sultan of Kedah, Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah was today awarded the honorary Maroon Beret and honorary Airborne Wing of 10 Paratrooper Brigade by the Malaysian Army at Dataran Parawood in Terendak Camp, Sungai Udang, here.
The award was presented by Army chief General Tan Sri Zulkiple Kassim and was witnessed by 10 Paratrooper Brigade commander Brigadier General Datuk Tengku Muhammad Fauzi Tengku Ibrahim and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron.
Also present at the ceremony were the Raja Muda of Kedah Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah, Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah and Kedah Tunku Laksamana Tunku Shazuddin Ariff.
The award ceremony was held in conjunction with the visit of Sultan Sallehuddin as Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) Colonel in Chief to learn about the history, customs and latest development of the regiment.
The beret and wing awards which have been the pride of 10 Paratrooper Brigade are aimed honouring and recognising individuals as well as top military or government leaders from the country or abroad.
Earlier, the Sultan and his royal entourage witnessed a 10 Paratrooper Brigade combat demonstration among them, a mechanised vehicle attack, non-weapon combat, swimming combat, section attack, human wave, abseiling and fast roping involving about 2,000 members.
The 10 Paratrooper Brigade is the pride of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Malaysian Army (TDM) because of its ability to move and attack the enemy’s position quickly and effectively. — BERNAMA
