ALOR SETAR – The Rohingya community in Kedah today donated aid worth RM10,000 for flood victims in Kelantan.
Rohingya Society in Malaysia (RSM) Kedah branch chairman Mohd Noor Abu Bakar said the aid included 400 packets of rice (five-kilo packets), pillows, towels and other basic necessities which were bought through donations from the 50-strong community in the state.
“We are used to a difficult life so we can understand the plight of the flood victims,” he told reporters at the branch’s office here today.
He added that 10 members of RSM Kedah would be heading to Kampung Manjur, Kuala Krai in a lorry and van to hand over the aid to the village’s development and security committee.
In KEMAMAN, Air Putih assemblyman Wan Abdul Hakim Wan Mokhtar flagged off 100 volunteers from his service centre to help out in flood relief work in Batu Hitam near Tanah Merah in Kelantan.
They are heading there in a convoy comprising a bus, 11 four 4WDs and three vans. The convoy is also bring along essential items needed by 40 households in two kampungs there, namely Kampung Kenerak and Kampung Cherang Lali. – Bernama
