SHAH ALAM – The Kedah team lifted the FA Cup for the fourth time after beating Pahang 3-2 in a five goal thriller in the final match at Shah Alam Stadium, here tonight.
Prolific striker Ken Ilso Larsen of Denmark opened the scoring for the Red Hawks squad in the 20th minute after he slammed the ball home after receiving a cross from winger Mohd Syazwan Zainon.
Playmaker Baddrol Bakhtiar was the toast of the Kedah team for scoring two goals (45,72m).
His first goal was a low drive from inside the penalty box while the second goal was a simple tap after he connected a cross from Mohamad Syazwan.
Pahang’s two goals were scored by Heo Jaeowon of South Korea in injury time of the first half and Mohamadou Sumareh of Gambia in the 80th minute.
The Kedah team received the FA Cup from Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
The win brought cheers from thousands of Red Hawks travelling loyal supporters who thronged Shah Alam Stadium.
Also present to witness the final were the Menteri Besar of Kedah, Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah and Tengku Muda of Pahang, Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah. – BERNAMA
