ALOR SETAR – The number of evacuees affected by flash floods in Kedah increased to 3,621 on Monday.
There were 3,439 evacuees on Sunday night.
The state disaster management department secretariat in a statement said water from upstream and the high tide phenomenon had contributed to the situation, resulting in more people being evacuated.
As of 8am Monday, the victims from 1,081 families were sheltered at 29 evacuation centres.
Twelve of the centres are in Kota Setar district with seven located in Kubang Pasu district, six in Pokok Sena and four in Pendang. – BERNAMA
