ALOR SETAR – After two disappointing losses, Kedah are pinning their hopes on their latest import player, Andik Vermansyah to collect three points in their Super League match against Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) FC at Batu Kawan Stadium in Penang tomorrow evening.
Kedah Football Association (KFA) manager, Syed Khairol Anuar Syed Abidin said Andik who was an ASEAN import is a prolific player and hoped he would give his best for the team in the match.
“We hope Andik will blend well with the first eleven and produce an effective team to put Kedah back into a comfortable position with other teams.
“This will be our third match and it is very important we earn full points to put back the winning confidence and momentum of the squad after two losses against JDT and Perak earlier,” he told reporters after handing over the team’s new jersey at Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Suka Menanti here, today.
Also present were Kedah squad chief executive officer, Yusdi Madeonus Mohamad Yunus and assistant manager, Hariz Che Mat.
According to him, the presence of the import player from Jember, Indonesia is expected to give new hopes to the state squad and regain the lethal finishing touches of the team.
Meanwhile, Andik when met said Kedah was his choice despite receiving offers from six football clubs in Indonesia earlier.
“I was with Selangor playing against Kedah before this and Kedah were the best side in Malaysia and I am prepared to work hard for Kedah,” he said. Andik was with Selangor for four seasons from 2013 to 2017.
Nonetheless, after sustaining an injury, he was not offered to extend his contract by Selangor when the season ended in November last year.
Andik will be donning jersey number 30 this season and with him, Kedah had completed their import quota of five players with Liridon Krasniqi, Sandro Da Silva, Alvaro Silva and Pablo Pallares. – BERNAMA
