Karl Lagerfeld has stirred controversy by saying he “doesn’t like†Pippa Middleton’s face, and that she should “only show her back.â€
The creative director of Chanel, who is affectionately referred to as “Uncle Karl†in the fashion industry due to his lack of diplomacy, added further insult to injury by adding that he likes “romantic beauties†like Pippa’s sister Kate, but that Pippa “clearly strugglesâ€.
While there’s been no comment from either Middleton camp, it’s certainly not the first time Lagerfeld has publically declared his distaste for someone.
In February this year, he stunned fans by referring to singer Adele as “a little too fatâ€, to which she retorted, “I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.â€
The sentiment obviously hit home, as Lagerfeld hastily couriered a “large selection†of Chanel handbags to the singer as an apology.
“I’d like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer,” he said at the time. “Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. Adele is my favorite singer and I am a great admirer of her.â€
Despite his foot-in-mouth syndrome, Karl Lagerfeld has a host of celebrity fans including Diane Kruger, Blake Lively and Keira Knightley.
“I’ve known him since I was sixteen years old and today he’s both a friend and a neighbour,†says Kruger.MYNEWSHUB
