KOTA BAHARU – Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa expressed regret over the Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) distribution of the FA Cup ticket collection.
He said from the RM3 million gate collection, excluding broadcast rights, Kelantan only received RM600,000.
“Kelantan was responsible for 90 percent of the ticket sales and we only received such a small amount,” he said in his Facebook posting yesterday.
Annuar who was the former FAM deputy president said the FAM took RM1 million in the name of levy and other expenses and what is more disappointing is that Singapore’s Lions XII who are playing as an invited team have received a big chunk of the money.
“In the agreement between the FAM and the Singapore Football Association (FAS), invited teams are not eligible for prize money. They were only supposed to receive a token sum. We (Kelantan) have spent so much money to reach the final and what we received is disappointing,” he said.
Annuar also questioned the FAM’s decision to reduce the prize money for the FA Cup.
In the FA Cup final played in May, Kelantan lost 1-3 to the Lions XII from Singapore at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
Lions XII win saw the first time a club side winning the FA Cup and witnessed the FA Cup crossing the causeway, also for the first time.
