SHAH ALAM – Kelantan’s sensational striker and the Super League’s leading goal scorer Mohammed Ghaddar has joined Super League leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) for an undisclosed amount, but believed to be the highest transfer fee in the country according to the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA).
KAFA vice president Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah said Ghaddar would don JDT colours once the documents are finalised but reiterated that the decision to ‘sell’ Ghaddar was not due to KAFA’s financial situation.
“I cannot reveal the actual amount involved in the transfer because KAFA and JDT had agreed to keep it under wraps. What I can say is that it is the highest in the country. But it has nothing to do with KAFA’s financial status,” he told reporters, here today.
According to Nasir, KAFA were aware that Ghaddar had lost his ‘appeal’ to play for Kelantan through his Facebook postings.
“We therefore felt that it would be better for him to join another team. We have also identified a number of players to replace him,” he said.
Ghaddar is the leading scorer in the Super League with 18 goal after 12 matches. – BERNAMA
