JULIA Roberts is set to star in a film adaptation of Cynthia Swanson’s romance novel The Bookseller, with the Academy Award-winning actress also on board to produce.
The book, which quickly became a New York Times bestseller following its release in 2015, is set in the 1960s and centres around a single bookshop owner named Kitty Miller, who finds herself living out an alternate life — one in which she is married with children — in her dreams (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Roberts — who was most recently seen in 2016’s Mother’s Day and Jodie Foster’s Money Monster — will also produce alongside Red OM Films partners Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill, with Crystal City’s Jonathan Rubenstein and Ari Pinchot also attached as producers.
There is currently no screenwriter on board, but filmmakers are soon expected to be on the hunt for a scribe to pen the adaptation for the big screen. — AFP Relaxnews
