SEREMBAN – The Malaysian Civil Defence Derpartment (JPAM) Negeri Sembilan has identified two more picnic and recreational areas in the state, namely Jeram Toi in Ulu Klawang, Jelebu and Jeram Tengkek, Jempol to station its emergency rescue team.
State JPAM Director, Lt Col (CD) Kamal Mokhtar said the proposal to station the emergency rescue teams there was because the areas were danger prone as more visitors were going there especially during the weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
“These two areas are new areas in the state which have been proposed for the deployment of the JPAM emergency rescue teams. This matter had been discussed with the state government and we are waiting for the green light from the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM),” he told Bernama, here Sunday.
So far, he said, the JPAM had stationed the teams at Gunung Datuk, Rembau and Gunung Angsi, Kuala Pilah.
“We also collaborate with the Forestry Department, police and Fire and Rescue Department if an emergency occurs in the area such as cases of people getting lost, injury suffered by climbers and so on,” he said.
In addition, he said the department also deployed its personnel at three observation towers at the Port Dickson beach resorts. – BERNAMA
