Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 3.50pm to begin his 3-day official visit to Malaysia.
Joko or fondly known as Jokowi, was accompanied by his wife Iriana Joko Widodo. The couple was accorded the state welcoming ceremony and welcomed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Present were Prime Ministerâ€™s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor and Muhyiddinâ€™s wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.
Also at the Bunga Raya Complex to welcome the Indonesian president were Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and others.
Jokowi’s arrival was followed by a 21-gun salute and later, he inspected the guards of honour.
During their bilateral meeting, the two leaders are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including labour recruitment as well as maritime and economic issues.
His visit is also expected to boost Malaysiaâ€™s role in leading the Association of Southeast Asian nations (Asean) this year.
Jokowiâ€™s visit was at the invitation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Sultan Abdul Halim Muâ€™adzam Shah.-NST
