NUSAJAYA – Johor has become the first state in the federation to officially ban vaping.
State Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Abd Latif Bandi said the state executive council (Exco) meeting today decided on the matter as called for by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar who wanted a complete ban on the sale of vape and associated products effective Jan 1 next year.
“The Exco discussed the matter and decided to ban the sale of vaping devices and fluids at business premises based on the licences issued by the local authorities (PBTs).
“We will be issuing a circular on this soon so that the PBTs can enforce the ban,” he told reporters after the Exco meeting which was chaired by Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. here today.
He added that the ban would be effective Jan 1 to give time to sellers of vaping products to clear out their stocks.- BERNAMA
