KUCHING – The Social Welfare Department (JKM) has taken pro-active measures to assist victims in case of fire during the current dry season in Sarawak, said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.
“We are prepared to face any unfortunate occurrences like fire due to the current dry season. Our main focus will be to supply food and basic necessities in times of need.
“The JKM will work closely with the police and Fire and Rescue Department to determine what kind of assistance is needed,” she told reporters hosting a Hari Raya open house at her residence, here today.
The current dry spell is expected to continue until September as predicted by the Malaysian Meteorology Department. – BERNAMA
